Tag Rugby Tournament – Bournemouth Rugby Club

Two teams from the Priory School entered the Year 5/6 Christchurch Schools Tag Rugby tournament at Bournemouth Rugby Club on Wednesday 8th February. Each of our teams played other local schools in a round-robin event and we saw some absolutely amazing rugby played!

Priory 2, made up of some very inexperienced players, won their opening three matches before narrowly losing to a strong Christchurch Juniors team. They then won their next two and played the Priory 1 team in their final game, which was a thrilling 4-4 draw! The Priory 2 team ended up finishing the tournament in 3rd place, which was a tremendous achievement.

Priory 1 performed magnificently, defeating every single team they faced – until they drew with their schoolmates in the final game! As a result, the Priory School won the competition and qualified for the Dorset Finals in April, for the second year running.

All of our players demonstrated fantastic sporting values and excellent behaviour. We celebrated their success in Achievement Assembly before half-term. We must give thanks again to Mr Pearson, who gives up his time to coach the pupils. Thank you also to all of the parents who helped transport our pupils to and from the event, especially Mr Hopkins and Mr Hughes who assisted with managing the Priory A team.
