Paper Flowers

Class 5 began the week with a practical science investigation. After learning how to create ‘paper flowers’ and witnessing their petals unfurling when placed on water, the pupils were given the question ‘what effect does changing the material have?’

Pupils then used a variety of materials, such as crepe paper, cellophane, paper towels, card, backing paper and cloth material to create new flowers and test them out! In a class discussion afterwards, we focused on our reasoning skills and also consolidated our knowledge of absorption and saturation.
