Tag Rugby – Dorset School Games Finals!

On Wednesday 5th April, Priory School competed in the Dorset Winter School Games Finals in Tag Rugby at Leaf Academy, Bournemouth. Our school qualified for the tournament after winning the Christchurch tournament in February and joined over 900 pupils who were participating in the finals of rugby, volleyball and handball.

It was a fantastic day, with Priory pupils from Classes 4 & 5 representing our school tremendously well, displaying great enthusiasm, sportsmanship and behaviour. In the morning, Priory won one match and narrowly lost two others (both by just a single try), then in their afternoon group they lost their opening match, before winning their final two games, scoring seven tries in the last one!

The pupils enjoyed visiting the ‘cultural village’ during their lunch break and using the inflatable football pitch and various other activities.

The tournament marks the end of another very successful tag rugby season for Priory School, having won the Bournemouth Collegiate tournament in November and qualifying for the county finals for the second year running. We must thank Mr Pearson for his brilliant coaching and all of the pupils who have contributed, including our Year 6 players who were disappointed to miss the finals due to their Isle of Wight residential. We are looking forward to Tag Rugby returning in September and hope that many new players will take up the sport.
