I hope you all had a lovely summer and enjoyed your holidays!
It has been nice getting to know class 3 since we started back, so far we have talked about many different things like what we will learning this year and classroom expectations. Everyone seems very excited to start afresh. As a reward for hard work throughout the week, we also have a class teddy this year who will be travelling to your home in a backpack. Please read the instructions in the book if Pete arrives at your house.
This week in Maths we are going to be working on place value and number, we will be partitioning 3 digit numbers and also locating numbers on a number line. We will also be using the ICT suite to practice our Mymaths. The children will be given their own log in’s by the end of the week, so they will then have an opportunity to complete some online homework.
In English, we have began work on the book ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ which links with our Viking topic. The pupils will be concentrating on character descriptions, wow words and using connectives in their work.
We will also be learning some more about Viking invasions in our topic, and will be ordering events on a timeline. In Science, we will be working on healthy eating and the importance of nutrition along with much more.
Please find below the year 3/4 statutory spelling list. There will not be a test this Friday, but please keep an eye on the blog for details. However, there will be a times tables test Friday. Class 3 will be tested on their x3 times tables.
Here are some pictures of our learning so far…
If you have any questions for me, please ask. I am available to meet you on Tuesday after school-please book an appointment through the office.
