WB: 5/3/18

All children this week persevered and did their best in their practise assessments, but this weeks pupil of the week was particularly resilient. Well done!

Along with assessments, we have been looking at acrostic poems. The children came up with a wonderful acrostic poem as a whole class:

Sun gazing beautifully on the soft green grass.

Precious, glistening water, dripping slowly from the sky.

Revealed wonders of the beautiful, fresh rainbow flowers.

Incredible blossoms, drifting lightly when the wind tickles them.

New, surprising and delicate animals springing to life.

Great blankets of golden sweet corn, dancing gracefully in the wind.

We have also been really exploring Spring by looking at the flowers that are beginning to grow and we have started to plan an investigation in Science to find out why plants grow in Spring.

We were lucky this week to have a cricket coach come in and deliver a cricket session. We were shown different games we could play to help develop our balance and agility.

Please note, I have given all of the children their individual spellings that they need to work on. Please practise these every week at home. These are not the spellings I will be testing the children on, they are just to help your child.

I will be testing the children on the following spellings:

badge, bridge, edge, dodge, fudge, age, huge, change, charge, bulge, village

The /dʒ/ sound spelt as ge and dge at the end of words.

I will be recapping 2,5 and 10 times tables and linking these to division, for example:

2 x 5 = 10     so      10 divided by 5 = 2

Thank you for all of your support,

Mrs Miller
