Class 5 are making super progress with their fractions unit. We have been learning about mixed numbers and improper fractions, as well as how to order and add fractions, changing the denominators if necessary. Yesterday we really enjoyed our problem-solving lesson as pupils arrived to find several chocolate bars on the tables! One by one, pupils were invited to sit at one of the tables after asking themselves the question ‘which table would I need to sit at to get the largest amount of chocolate, if it was all shared equally at the table?‘. To begin with this was easy, but after a few pupils had sat down it became trickier, as we started to get into fractions of whole chocolate bars.
