To immerse the pupils in their first Talk4Writing unit in Class 5, which is based around the model text ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’, each child this morning had the challenge of entering the Labyrinth and defeating the Minotaur! To replicate the experience of the brave Athenian Prince and his fellow citizens, each group were led (blindfolded) by Mrs Colbeck into the darkness of the great Labyrinth. Like Theseus, they were equipped with a ball of string which they carefully unrolled as they walked, to ensure they could find their way out again. Following the deafening growls of the mighty beast, the brave Class 5 citizens entered the Minotaur’s lair and upon finding the sword, were able to slay the monster!
