Welcome to class 4

We have had a wonderful start to the week and the children have been fabulous. JUST LOOK AT THE PHOTOS!

This week in PE, we had a Gymnastics lesson with Mr Major. Following that we took part in a rotation of activities linked to our new topic, Tomb Raiders, which is all about the Egyptians. We can already see the children’s enthusiasm with the topic.

In computing, we have been looking at online safety and have discussed our new google accounts that the children will be receiving soon.

In Writing, we had an exciting hook, where the children entered an Egyptian tent. Inside the tent, there was lots of images of artefacts found in Tombs. The children were told that Mr Ruffle entered the tent without his glasses, he was very scared because he thought the simple pictures were something else. We imagined what he might of seen and used adjectives to describe these figments of his imagination. This then led nicely into our suspense story. After that, we learnt parts of our new text, acting out the story. As you can see by the pictures the children are loving it.

In Maths, we have begun to look at place value. We have also been counting in multiples of 25 and 1000. If you would be happy to support your child with this at home, then they will need to practise counting in multiples of 1000 from any number such as 3000 and increasing and decreasing by different variations such as 2000. For example: 3000 5000 7000 9000

In PSHE, we discussed what makes a great classroom environment and the importance of working as a team. We challenged ourselves to get the ball round the circle without hands and without dropping the ball. Again, it was so nice to see all the smiling faces. Finally we created a diamond 9 for attributes of a great team player.

Home work will start next week and the class spellings and timetables will be featured on the class page.

We have got lots of exciting things to discuss with you all, at our meet the teacher evening on Monday.
