What a lovely first week! It’s great to have a full class back again and see the children get back into a school routine.
This week we have started our first text in T4W, ‘The Way Back Home’. We have been learning the actions to our story map and thinking about sentence structure and using adjectives. In maths, we have been working on place value where the class have been using part whole models and place value charts to show their understanding of number. In phonics, we have been revising the ‘ai’ sound along with it’s alternative spellings. To begin our topic ‘Flight’ this term, the pupils had a paper aeroplane competition in the playground.
In reading, I have sent all the pupils home with a reading log (which doesn’t have to be brought back into school with them-this is for them to keep track of their reading at home) and a reading book. The class can change their reading books on a Monday and return any books on a Friday (where they will be placed in a quarantine box over the weekend).
Tomorrow, I will be handing out the log in details to google classroom. The class access code will be on the term letter that will also be going out tomorrow.
Homework will start from next week.
