Spelling home learning
This week’s spelling looks at the sounds ‘ai’, ‘ee’ and ‘igh’ which we have been learning in school. What is special about the ‘igh’ sound? – It is a trigraph! (it has three letters but it only makes one sound).
ai
rain
pain
snail
ee
feet
deep
beep
igh
thigh
fight
light
What to do:
- Read the words to your grown up. Remember to use your robot arms to help you break down the sounds (e.g. r-ai-n = rain)
- Can you spot the digraph (ai, ee, igh) in each word? Add the sound buttons to each word
- Challenge – can you write any of the words in a sentence? (e.g. I see a bright light.)
