The aim of Playground Leaders is to introduce and develop leadership skills in Year 5 and 6 children by training to organise positive play activities for other children on the playground.

Supporting Positive Behaviour

It is the role of Playground Leaders to support positive behaviours when children are playing and to reward children with praise when they are doing this. At times, some children may need help in overcoming disagreements. Play leaders will have a very clear structure in terms of what to do in these situations, which may include seeking support from a midday assistant or a teacher on duty.

Playground Leaders Record Book

Playground Leaders will be responsible for a log of the games they have played; they will identify the games that certain classes enjoyed, how many children took part in the games, how active the games were, names of children or classes who played well together and a list of equipment that was lost or needs replacing.
