The Gold Mark Sports Award

At the Priory School we love Sport and we recognise how important it is in the development of healthy lifestyles and good mental health.

We are proud that in 2018-19 we were awarded the Gold Mark Sports Award for our strong commitment to, engagement and delivery of competitive sport. We benefit hugely from being part of the Christchurch Sports Partnership and having great links with Twynham PE department.

Our Dedicated and Specialist Staff Team

We have a committed team dedicated to improving opportunities for all children to take part in Sport. Mrs Miller is our Physical Education coordinator. A significant proportion of our Sports Funding finances this provision and pays for the cover needed for staff to attend competitions with the children.

Christchurch Sports Partnership

Another significant part of our sports budget funds our membership of the Christchurch School Sports Partnership. In 2018-19 we attended over 28 events put on by CSSP, for all ages and abilities. Our amazing CSSP coordinator, Dan Moody, won the SGO (Sports Games Organiser) of the year 2018-19! See the Youtube clip below and spot some of our Priory pupils!

Sports Funding Reports

School sports have been badly impacted by the pandemic and we haven’t been able to achieve all the things we intended to do. A major casualty has been our swimming programme and we are planning to use our 2021-22 to provide a catch-up swimming programme in summer 2022 for all years 4, 5 and 6.

The following documents detail our PE and Sports Premium Funding and how it has been allocated to further develop our provision. Following the 2nd lockdown, to improve the health of our school community, we have embraced skipping with Dan the Skipping Man and brought brand new ropes for all our children.

We plan to use our £1,900 carry forward from last year’s Sports Premium to pay for a catch-up swimming programme for KS2 in the summer term.

We are waiting for further Government advice before publishing our Sports Strategy for 2021-22.
